- star-dust high
- Euphoric or altered state from certain cosmic or runic substances
- ““Don’t take that shit unless you want a three-day star-dust high.””
- Bifrost fade
- To suddenly disappear or go off-grid
- ““She did a Bifrost fade after the job. Haven’t seen her since.””
- hearth-warmed
- Someone who feels safe and emotionally supported by a Longhouse
- ““Took me a while, but I finally feel hearth-warmed here.””
- driftwood
- Someone who moves between districts/Longhouses without settling
- ““He’s driftwood. Shows up, stays a while, then vanishes again.””
- void-chaser
- Someone who deliberately seeks dangerous or extreme experiences
- ““She’s a void-chaser. Always looking for the next thing that might kill her.””
- hearthless
- Someone without a Longhouse or chosen family
- ““Watch your back around the hearthless. They don’t have the same rules.””
- pulse-junkie
- Someone addicted to being deeply connected to the city’s systems
- ““He’s a pulse-junkie. Can’t go more than a day without jacking into a spine.””
- starve the flame
- To deliberately suppress emotion or connection
- ““Don’t starve the flame like that. It’ll burn you out eventually.””
- rootless
- Someone with no Longhouse, no chosen family, and no real ties
- ““The rootless ones usually don’t last long out here.””
- flame-chaser
- Someone who deliberately seeks intense emotions or dangerous situations
- ““She’s a flame-chaser. Gets bored when things are too stable.””
- hearth-hungry
- Desperate for belonging or emotional warmth
- ““You can smell the hearth-hungry on some of these new faces.””
- void-walk
- To deliberately go into dangerous or isolated areas alone
- ““He went on a void-walk again. Came back quieter than usual.””
- spine-jack
- To plug into the city’s systems (sometimes illegally or recklessly)
- ““He spine-jacked the east node last night. Still twitching.””
- drift rat
- Someone who lives between districts, never staying long in one place
- ““Watch your pockets around the drift rats near the old spine.””
- pulse-chaser
- Someone who chases the high of being deeply connected to the city’s energy
- ““She’s a pulse-chaser. Can’t go a day without jacking in.””
- hearth-hopper
- Someone who moves between Longhouses looking for belonging
- ““He’s a hearth-hopper. Never stays warm anywhere for long.””
- beam-broke
- Emotionally or spiritually exhausted from holding a Longhouse together
- ““She came back beam-broke. Couldn’t even look at the hearth.””
- cold circuit
- Someone emotionally shut down or running on autopilot
- ““He’s been on cold circuit since the breach. Doesn’t laugh anymore.””
- rune-burned
- Marked or changed (physically or mentally) by unstable runes
- ““You can tell the rune-burned ones by how they flinch at bright lights.””
- glow down
- When someone’s status, reputation, or energy visibly drops
- ““He did a full glow down after that job went bad.””
- spine-sick
- Nauseous or disoriented from too much time jacked into the network
- ““I’m spine-sick. Need to get off the grid for a few days.””
- glow-chaser
- Someone obsessed with status, reputation, or being seen
- ““She’s a glow-chaser. Always chasing the next big moment.””
- cold-run
- A job, situation, or relationship with no warmth or loyalty
- ““That whole thing was a cold-run from the start.””
- drift-step
- The way someone moves when they don’t belong anywhere
- ““You can see the drift-step on the ones who’ve been rootless too long.””
- rune-slinger
- Someone who uses runes or tech in a flashy, reckless, or dangerous way
- ““He’s a rune-slinger. Thinks he’s untouchable until he isn’t.””
- circuit-ghost
- Someone who’s barely present, half-jacked into the network
- ““She’s been a circuit-ghost since that job. Hard to reach.””
- beam-drunk
- Emotionally high or overwhelmed from being in a warm, strong Longhouse
- ““Came back beam-drunk after three days in the new hearth.””
- void-stare
- The distant, haunted look someone gets after too much time on the edge
- ““He’s got that void-stare again. Been staring at nothing for hours.””
- echo-head
- Someone obsessed with old memories, data, or past events
- ““Don’t get him started. He’s an echo-head about the old crew.””
- kin-cut
- To deliberately sever ties with chosen family (very serious)
- ““She kin-cut her whole old hearth. No one’s seen her since.””
- pulse-sick
- Physically ill from being too deeply connected to the city’s energy
- ““He’s pulse-sick again. Needs to unplug before he crashes.””
- drift-sick
- Restless and unwell from staying in one place too long
- ““I’m getting drift-sick. Need to move before I lose it.””
- runic
- (slang) Weird, cursed, or strangely compelling
- ““That whole situation was runic as hell. Still don’t know what happened.””
- bridge-jump
- To take a massive risk with no safety net
- ““She bridge-jumped on that deal. Could’ve lost everything.””
- aurora-sick
- Drawn to dangerous cosmic events or phenomena
- ““He’s aurora-sick. Keeps chasing the next big surge.””
